What is 128-bit encryption?
When you use a web site that asks for personal information, especially credit card or other financial information it is important to feel secure. 128-bit encryption refers to the way that data is hidden as a binary string of numbers so that it isn't viewable as plain text. 128-bit encryption is the standard for all financial transactions and would take, as one person put it, longer than the age of the universe to crack it. It is by a wide margin the most secure way to make a purchase - more so even that doing it in person at a store!
What is a 'URL'?
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator and it is how web sites are found on the internet. You may have heard people say "click on" or "go to" such-and-such URL - they mean the address of a web site. The URL is made of of three parts: the internet protocol it uses (http), the domain name (globalvillageweb.ca) and possibly some additional information to get directly to a page within a web site. For example http://www.globalvillageweb.ca is the URL you used to get to this site.
